Arris Rails

Arris rails are used to construct the framework of a traditional closeboard fence. the featheredge boards are fixed to these along the bay. The ended arris rails are azed and can be inserted straight into mortised posts, timber or concrete. The flat end arris rails are used with timber posts and can be joined by nailing or by an arris rail bracket.

Counter Rail & Capping

These are normally seen as an extra fixing for closeboard fences. The counter rail is nailed on the inside of the fence to the back of the featheredge boards (giving latteral support), then the capping is nailed to the top creating a ledged effect over the top of the fence bays.

Wall Plates

These are made to fix onto masonry as appose to digging in a post when the fence lines starts off the edge of a building or structure. they are also available morticed for Closeboard fencing.

Misc

Centre stumps are fixed to the bottom centre of the fence bays on the back of the gravel boards and mounted to the bottom of the first arris rail. This supports the part of the bay that withstands the most strain over time and stops the bay bending downwards. Cleats are fixed to timber posts to attach gravel boards, for every post two cleats are needed and they come pre drilled if required.
